Bhaskar N. Raju, M.D.
Child, Adolescent & Adult Psychiatrist,
Chief Executive Officer

Dr. Bhaskar Raju is our award winning medical director. He began his private practice at Orlando Psychiatric Associates Inc. in 2005. He completed his medical degree at the prestigious S.V. University in India. He was chosen to attend the Psychiatry residency training program at the University of Minnesota Hennepin- Regions Medical Center, which he completed in 2002. He was one of a select few clinicians selected for a fellowship in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at the University of Miami-Jackson Memorial Hospital, which he completed in 2004. After his studies were completed Dr. Raju selected Orlando, FL as his home and began serving our community with exceptional care in 2005. For his faithful service and for being recognized by his patients as one of America's most compassionate doctors, Dr. Raju received "The Compassionate Doctor Award" in 2016. In 2014, Dr. Raju was voted as a "Top 10 Doctor/Specialist" by Vitals, Inc. Additionally, "The "Patients’ Choice Awards" recognized Dr. Raju as one of Florida’s favorite physicians in 2011 and also awarded him the same prestigious recognition in 2008 and 2009.

Dr. Raju’s special interests and clinical expertise include the care and treatment of ADHD, Learning Disorders, Autistic Spectrum disorders, Bipolar Disorder, Depression, Stress, marital dysfunctions, Substance Abuse, Anxiety Disorder, as well as Schizophrenia. Dr. Raju believes in the effectiveness of individualized care and designs a treatment/care plan specific to each patient’s unique needs.

Maria L. Valdes, M.D.- Child, Adolescent, and Adult Psychiatrist

Orlando Psychiatric Associates is pleased to introduce Maria L. Valdes, M.D., a dedicated Bilingual Psychiatrist with extensive experience in the community treating patients of all ages with Depression, Anxiety, Bipolar, Schizophrenia, PTSD, Personality Disorders, and children-related issues. Her areas of expertise include Adult and Child Psychiatry, Geriatric Psychiatry, Chemical Dependency, and Dual Diagnosis. Dr. Valdes has worked in multiple inpatient and outpatient mental health settings providing her the opportunity to work with a variety of populations, cultures, and ages as young as 4. She has a caring personality and ability to easily engage with individuals, couples, and families of various backgrounds.

Dr. Valdes earned her Doctor of Medicine degree at the University of Seville in Spain. She completed specialization in Child Psychiatry at the University of Hawaii. In addition, Dr. Valdes is a Fellow member of the American Psychiatric Association and is ECFMG certified.

For fun, Dr. Valdes enjoys taking care of her horses at her ranch and cherishes her Hispanic culture and family.

Donna Marie Key Martinez, MSN, ARNP, BC

Donna Has over 30 years of clinical experience as a Nurse Practitioner. She has practiced at Orlando Psychiatric Associates since 2005. She has been instrumental in O.P.A establishing itself as one of Orlando's premier mental health care practices. Donna earned her undergraduate degree from the University Of South Carolina and completed her graduate degree at the University of Alabama. She is a distinguished member of Sigma Theta Tau, which is the honors society of nurses. Her clinical psychiatric expertise is in treatment of Depression, OCD, Bipolar Symptoms, Generalized anxiety and PTSD. Donna also is an expert in helping patients develop coping skills to deal with life stress. Behavioral issues in the younger population, especially in individuals with developmental disorders are great interest to her.

Jessica Anastasio PA-C, M.P.A.S.

Jessica Anastasio, PA-C, M.P.A.S. is a graduate of Mercy College. She excelled in the Physician Assistant Program, receiving Master of Physician Assistant Studies degree. After a career in dermatology as medical assistant and office manager, Jessica desired a more hands on approach and is now a provider of Psychiatry. Her genuine care of others and dedication to quality care are unparalleled. She has distinguished herself as a leader and an educator in her field. She continues to strive for excellence in Psychiatry, providing high quality innovative care.

Debbie Davieca Singh, MSN, ARNP

Debbie Davieca Singh MSN, ARNP is a graduate of University of South Florida and she joins OPA after over 15 years working with patients in the hospital setting, caring for children and their families. Her passion has always been helping others so they can live their optimal lives. Being here at OPA allows her to do just that with the ability to provide more individualized care while building long-term relationships with her patients. Debbie works with adults and children with a variety of specific conditions and symptoms at OPA. Many of her patients come to her with diagnoses such as Depression, Bipolar, Schizophrenia, Anxiety, PTSD, Autism, ADHD, ODD, and learning disabilities. Debbie enjoys working with her patients, and takes a special interest in children behavioral problems, working with the community to bring awareness of mental health in children. She does more than just treating their medical conditions; she takes the time to promote prevention of disease, encourages non-medication treatment, and works towards helping the patient to feel more empowered in their care. Her focus at OPA has been to her patients with thorough and comprehensive care, and a strong commitment to their overall health and wellness.

Esther Ofokansi, MSN.Ed., PMHNP-BC, ARNP

Esther has over 17 years of clinical experience both as a nurse and later as an educator. She has practiced at Orlando Psychiatric Associates since 2017. Esther will continue the tradition of establishing O.P.A as one of Orlando's premier mental health care practices. Esther earned her undergraduate at Chamberlain College and Nursing. She earned her Master's Degree at The University of Central Florida. Esther has special interest understanding patients experience with their psychiatric disorders and providing necessary insight to understand and accept their treatment plan. Esther specializes helping kids, adolescents and adults; she has a special passion helping patients suffering from Schizophrenia. Esther's Favorite Quote is "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you".

Karen Jorge, MCMSc, PA-C

Karen Jorge, MCMSc, PA-C completed her Masters of Medical Science Degree at Barry University in Miami Shores, FL. She pursued a career as a Physician Assistant after being a medical scribe for an emergency department at a Trauma 1 hospital center with the goal to be an excellent Provider with upmost respect and care for her patients. Karen completed her Bachelor's of Science of Biological Studies at Florida International University in Miami, FL and participated in research at Albert Einstein College of Medicine of Yeshiva University in Bronx, New York during the summers of her undergraduate career. Throughout her profession, Karen has seen a wide variety of mental illness and is passionate about providing individualized treatment to her patients. She has an engaging personality that allows individuals, children, and families to trust her professional care as she implements a holistic approach to psychiatric health. On her days off, Karen likes to delve in culinary adventures, trying new restaurants around the city, and cooking new recipes with family and friends. Karen is fluent in Spanish and embraces her Hispanic culture.

Tonya King, MSN-FNP, MHA, ARNP

Tonya King is a Family Nurse Practitioner, board-certified by the American Association of Nurse Practitioner and licensed by the state of Florida to provide family-centered healthcare to patients of all ages. Her scope of practice encompasses health promotion, disease prevention, diagnosis and management of common and complex health care problems beginning in childhood and continuing throughout the aging process. She holds various degrees with one being a Bachelor of Science in Sociology/Social Welfare from the University of North Florida and a dual Masters of Science in Nursing and a Master of Health Administration from the University of Phoenix.She began her career in health care after the completion of high school by working as certified nurse assistant in nursing homes and rehabilitation centers. Since that time, she has accumulated nearly 25 years of nursing experience and education in various areas of patient care including neurological, inpatient psychiatric care, medical surgical intensive care, pediatric nursing, and as nurse practitioner.Tonya has a unique combination of strong nursing skills and strives to provide the best health care possible. She believes in building a long lasting and trusting relationship with patients and customers. She seeks to acquire a comprehensive evaluation of every patient by taking time to listen and understand their particular needs and situation. Her true desire is to enhance a positive healing experience and confidence to those in need. Tonya will be attending Florida State University in 2019 to complete her Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner certification to better serve patients at OPA.

Tahira Qureshi, MD, ARNP, FNP, MSN, MBA, BSN, MBBS

I am a foreign, highly motivated, and caring Medical Doctor with a high inclination to help patients achieve their goals. I passed all USMLE licensing exams and worked as house Physician in Orlando. During that time I earned an MBA degree and also helped in instant plans and management. I also completed my BSN and MSN degrees and earned ARNP and FNP as well. I have a unique dual experience as a Physician and ARNP Nurse Practitioner. I have the capacity to understand patients from the medical, psychiatric, and ARNP perspectives. My passion is to heal the insight of those with different conditions that make them feel unhappy and are going through a rough time; by providing medicine and positive/encouraging words, I hope to help my patients overcome their mental health related struggles and progress emotionally and mentally. My experience has provided me with the ability to communicate well with my patients, build rapport easily with them, and allow them to express how they feel with no judgement and much understanding. I have a keen interest in mood disorders in all ages, child related issues, and the importance of fostering families with the right tools to overcome family related issues. I am a firm believer that we can achieve much with a positive support system and the right combination of treatment and tools needed in life.

Seher Shaikh, PA-C

Seher Shaikh, PA-C developed a love for medicine early in her high school career. She was born in Pakistan and raised in Central Florida where she attended the University of Central Florida for her undergraduate studies. She went to Miami Dade college for her Physician Assistant studies and completed her training in Jackson health and Baptiste health system. She always had a unique interest in helping out in the community, especially in the underprivileged population. She was heavily involved in Best Buddies which is an organization that assists children and adults with developmental disabilities. During her training, Seher was involved in Project SEED, a community outreach program to bring healthcare screening and follow up care to the migrant worker and their families in the Homestead area in Miami, Florida. She was also involved in Miami Dade Annual Health Fair, which targeted the underserved and uninsured population to provide basic care and provide screenings. She has been in the specialty of Psychiatry since 2017, where she found her love for psychiatry when she was working in Addictions medicine. Her areas of expertise in substance abuse from alcohol dependence to opiate abuse. Her areas of interests are Bipolar Disorder, Major Depression, Anxiety disorders, Specific phobias, OCD, and Psychotic disorders. Devoted to comprehensive psychiatric care, Seher's goal is to achieve optimal health through disease prevention and healthy lifestyle. Her mission is to conduct comprehensive evaluations to establish an accurate diagnosis and plan treatment which incorporates safe and effective use of psychopharmacology and psychotherapy in a caring environment. Psychoeducation and family involvement are highly encouraged.
